Blue jeans, red t-shirt and yellow jumper.
I read in another blog not long ago (which I now can't find!) about mustard yellow and red as a colour combination for an outfit. It inspired me to put this outfit together and I wore it to Sunday lunch with my boyfriend and his parents. It was quite outside of my comfort zone as I generally wear black and white, with some red if I'm feeling really adventurous! I did enjoy wearing this bright palette though and will definitely wear this again.
My handbag isn't really a handbag; it's an impostor. The label says "A Product of Thorn Automation Ltd." And on the the other side reads "the instruction manual for this equipment is enclosed in the carton" along with a serial number, who it was tested by and the date; which was 8th April 1981. I have literally no idea what it was originally for but it's completely unused and smells of brand new leather. I decided that the equipment it should now enclose is a lipstick and Stratton compact.
Since getting my hair cut it has been much easier to curl and this weekend it was like a dream; I was wondering around in a daze of good hair (hence vacant expression) not one but two days in a row. I clipped one side back with the flower I made the other day and attached to a hair clip.
For a look at how another blogger has teamed mustard and red "Mustard is my new red" by Solanah at Vixen Vintage is a lovely post.

Flowers of Fabric
Something I really like to make to use up odd scraps of fabric are flowers which I then use in a variety of ways such as on hair clips and brooches. Once your fingers get used to the origarmi of it they are very fast to make - I like making them while watching that nice Mr Portillo talking about the railways!
I thought it would be nice to share how I make these so I have done a tutorial for you. Later on I'll be doing an inspiration post so you can see the the ways I have used them to make accessories and even add interest to a photoframe!
Please let me know what you think and don't forget to take part in my Benefit They're Real! Mascara giveaway!

Me and the fella got a bit snap happy when doing this. There are loads of pictures but these can be a bit fiddley so I wanted to make this tutorial as detailed as possible to avoid confusion.

Giveaway: Benefit Mascara!
Happy Enforced Love Day! I hope you have all had a lovely time being lovely to each other.
As a little gift to you I'm going to giveaway a full size tube of Benefit They're Real! Mascara in Black, worth £18.50 in the shops, just because I'm nice like that and it's valentine's day. The Benefit website says "they're real! lengthens, curls, volumises, lifts & separates. Our jet black, long-wearing formula won’t smudge or dry out. A specially designed brush reveals lashes you never knew you had!"
As a, possibly drunk, man in the street sang to me today "I don't care too much for money, money can't buy me love - because it's free, love, isn't it?". Never a truer word said and you know what else is free? This mascara!

Lake Ullswater
Last weekend I went on a lovely birthday trip to Ullswater in the Lake District where I stayed at The Inn on the Lake with my boyfriend. I booked it on a deal as they had dropped their prices since they were doing renovation work at the hotel. This work didn't interfere with our stay in the slightest and we had a really great time enjoying the comfortable hotel, fantastic food and down right stunning views.
While we were there a really friendly member of staff in an outdoor clothing shop (http://www.catstycam.com/blog/) told us how there it rains on average for 211 days of the year. While we were staying there though it didn't rain a drop and on our last day it was even positively balmy with beautiful sunshine. He asked us how far we were walking today, "just a stroll before we go home" we said. Four hours later we got back to the car but it was just too lovely to turn around and go home.
I'm going to stop the waffle now and post some of our pictures but I will apologise now if it's too picture heavy.

Tea Time is Sister Time
Another little post to show you the outfit I wore while my sister was back in the Shire for our Mum's graduation. She came over to Lincoln and I took her to all the best places for a nice cuppa. I know where to go for a reasonably priced brew since I have have an issue with paying over the odds for hot water and a teabag. Proper brewed tea in china is a different kettle of... tea though. I also like going to the more independant cafes around town.
First stop was the Museum of Lincolnshire Life where we got a pot of tea for 80p. Yes, you heard! I love the museum and have blogged about it in the past here.

We went shopping a bit and then headed over to the Drill Hall which is a great venue and theatre which has a bar with yet again reasonable tea prices! We had a cuppa and cake, which was homemade banana cake with vanilla frosting, for £2.50 each. You can't get better than that in your over priced high street coffee shop company. I have visited the Drill Hall a number of times for performances (some free!) and events I have attended through work and I can't stop singing their praises.
Since I tend be a bit more noticeable in what I wear than some people I have always felt kind of at home in places like these. I think it's partly to do with the surroundings and mainly to do with the friendly, welcoming staff.
Shoes Glorious Shoes
Shoes, glorious shoes!
What is there emore handsome?
Suede, leather or nubuck --
Still worth a kin's ransom.
What is it we dream about?
What brings on a sigh?
Platforms and heals, about
Six feet high!
