Land Girls on BBC One

I have only recently found a series on BBC 1 called Land Girls and I absolutely love it! I'm a bit of a Johnny-come-lately as they are already on the third series and I've only just found it but luckily I caught it from the beginning of this series thanks to Iplayer. Last week I watched it online while in a bubble bath - it was perhaps the best bath of my life.

The BBC website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00xxnhv) describes the programme as "Drama following the lives and loves of four girls away from home, doing their bit for Britain in the Women's Land Army." It doesn't appear to be a big budget production but there's something about it which really appeals to me; maybe it's the ordinariness of it all and that I actually feel this may be what it would have been like as a Land Girl. I love the scenery and costume too, oh of course the costume!

The ladies face some real trials as they take on the task of working the land and it's not always the farm which provides this for them. There's some juicy relationships and love interests too, despite men being few and far between they've still managed to wangle that ol' chestnut in there and good job too I say. I love a bit of good old fashioned romance these days since I'm just a soppy bugger at heart. So far there's a dodgy love interest for Connie as someone from her past comes back and she's none too pleased to see him and another of the ladies appears to be "in the family way". It's not just the Land Girls either as something definitely is brewing between Lady Ellen Hoxley and Doctor Richard Channing.

The most interesting relationship I find though is between Iris and Frank Tucker who is an older gentleman working on the farm. I don't believe it is a romantic relationship but more platonic or paternal as he is helping Iris learn to read. He has a gruff, agressive element as he defends his brother but genuinely seems to care about Iris and wants to help her with her literacy. He even helped her beat the boys at a ploughing competetion the other week!

And here is my own Land Girls look posing on my parent's wooden gate, I've worn this outfit loads before but it's something I really love to wear at the weekends. Also I'm wearing my new loafers, loafers! My mum picked them up for me from a well known supermarket giant (Tesco) and I love them, they have bows on them.

Anyway I hope you give Land Girls a look out on BBC Iplayer or watch it when it's on the tube next Sunday at 5.45pm BBC one.

See you in Berlin

Just a few pictures from when I went to Berlin for my sister's (evolvedfeline.blogspot.co.uk) Birthday.

At some fragments of the Berlin Wall.

Above, the Holocaust Memorial.
Right, with some German zombies, as you do.

Aaaand the birthday gal, evolvedfeline.blogspot.co.uk. You can be honest, we don't look related, she's far too blond and pretty.

Lapin Trois

Once upon a time I had two rabbits, like rabbits do, they bred. Now I have five rabbits, or more precisely my dad has five rabbits as I live in a house share and my landlady doesn't allow pets. I thought I'd share some pictures of them with you because I love them so much. Nawww!

Barney also gets called big fatty as he was from a little of two so he grew up bigger and stronger. His dad is a silver fox so he has grown up with similar markings to a silver fox but in a brown colour.

This is Phil the silver fox so named after Phillip Schofield who is the ultimate silver fox. He's Barney's dad and my favourite bunny (I don't lie about these things, I have favourites). He generally wiggles when held for everyone but me because he loves me, I know it. Also everyone seems to think he's a bit crazy and like Begby from Trainspotting just because he got into one little fight.

And finally Shorty, imaginatively named because he has shorter hair than the rest. I'm scared of Shorty because he bit my dad once but it was because he could smell Phil on him and Shorty and Phil have a rivalry thing going on. You can still see the bite marks on the top of Shorty's ear.

Only got good pictures of the three of them but we also have Nibbles and Chewy, I'll hopefully get some more soon. Anyway I hope you like my bunnies!

Midweek Mexican!

I've just been out to celebrate a work friend's birthday at Chimmichanga's (mmm Mexican food!) but before I went out I was so happy with my outfit I got my housemate to take a few snaps for me. Luckily for me she's better with a camera than I am!

My outfit is not terribly exciting since it's something I've worn quite often but I was just having one of those moments when I felt really happy with the way I looked. That probably sounds really vain but I don't get them often so I felt the need to document it quickly and show the world!

I think the key to my new found confidence was my hair. I had it cut and the weekend and was really worried all of the magic had been cut out of it as since then it had gone back to its old curl resisting ways. But then today it all just seemed to go right. These are the same curls I put in my hair this morning and I'm chuffed to bits with how well they have lasted. I think maybe it was something to do with the products they used at the hair dressers and now they've all washed out, maybe.

The Sun Has Got His Hat On!

He's coming out to play,

The sun has got his hat on,

Hip hip hip hip hooray!

Last weekend the sun dusted off his fedora and came out to play alright! Sunday was absolutely wonderful and it's made me so impatient for the summer time. Strangely when it gets sunny I have an urge to dress more 1950's, the boyfriend feels this too. I just find that personally the 40's suits the winter more with the darker colours and heavier fabrics. When the weather hots up there's nothing more comfortable than a bright circle skirt although so far it's still too cold for that so I had to make do with a pencil skirt.

This picture was taken just before I went to the hair dresser which is why my hair is pulled back and looks kind of like a comb over. Curling my hair every single day has had its downsides however I have had my student on placement with me for nearly three weeks now and she has not once seen me without my curls. That's a record I say!

The Sun Deceives

Today was really sunny in short bursts but over all it was quite chilly still so I went out wearing two jumpers which avoided my usual complaint of being cold.

It's not particularly noticeable that I am wearing a jumper as it's a black jumper over a black dress which isn't particularly inspiring. And then I put a yellow cardigan on which made me feel a whole lot better about the amount of black I was wearing. I'm finding that the weather is getting to that difficult stage that deceives me of wonderful warmth but turns out to be rather nippy. It also means that I feel summery but can't yet swap over my winter to summer wardrobe.

I'm also finding it difficult to wear much actual vintage at the moment and I can't quite put my finger on why. Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's because I haven't done the washing for a little while. I do know though that when the summer comes I'll actually be able to crack out the circle skirts and will feel much more vintage again. Which reminds me, I was going to make a circle skirt, wasn't I?

A close up of the little details and the only actual vintage thing on my outfit. This is a stunning micro mosaic which my boyfriend bought for me; I love the twisted edge. Naww, ain't 'e sweet!
